NAIL SPECIALTY

Manicures and pedicures are a time-honored tradition. Clients and professionals develop relationships that can last a lifetime. A knowledgeable nail specialist is an artist, a masseuse, a friend. This course covers all the knowledge from the scientific aspects of the nails to massage to various types of nail extensions and wraps, as well as the artistic and business aspects you’ll need to maximize your success. The Nail specialty program provides the theory and practical application necessary to obtain a New York State Nail Specialty license3 as a nail specialist.

Program objectives
Upon completion of the program, the students will be able to:

  • Understand safety and health regulations regarding to nail specialty industry
  • Master the knowledge of nail anatomy, physiology and nutrition
  • Know essential knowledge of bacteria and infection control
  • Provide client consultation
  • Perform manicuring and pedicuring
  • Apply nail tip and its design and master nail wraps skills
  • Perform acrylic nails (Liquid and Powder Nail Extensions)

 Program hours: 250 hrs

Day time Schedule: Mon-Fri 8am-1pm 10 weeks in total

Evening time Schedule: 4pm-9pm 10 weeks in total

Weekend Class Schedule: 9am - 4:15pm 20 weeks in total

COSMETOLOGY

The Cosmetology program provides the theory and practical application necessary to obtain a New York State Cosmetology license2 as a cosmetologist. The program will prepare students for employment in all areas of beauty culture. Instruction and practice in the cosmetology program include training for shampooing, scalp and hair analysis, haircutting and trimming, trimming and removal of facial hair, thermal styling, wet and dry styling, skin care, temporary removal of superfluous hair, first aid, permanent waving, chemical relaxing, hair coloring, bleaching, rinses, manicuring, pedicuring, and the styling of artificial hair.

Program objectives
Upon completion of the program, the students will be able to:

  • be familiar with safety and health regulations regarding to cosmetology industry
  • Understand anatomy and physiology of facial bones and muscles, and the structure of hair
  • perform hair analysis
  • recognize hair and scalp disorders and diseases
  • Understand chemistry as applied to cosmetology
  • Correctly use shampoos, rinses, conditioners and treatments
  • Perform hair Cutting and Shaping
  • Perform various hair styling
  • Perform chemical Restructuring, hair coloring on hair
  • Perform nail care and skin care and related procedures
  • Have eligibility to take New York State Cosmetology licensing exam

Program Hours: 1000 hours

Day Classes only

9 AM - 4PM Monday thru Friday, 6 hours/day, 30 hours/week

All textbooks, manuals and materials used will be provided to students on or before the first day of class. The equipment used during the training for Nail Specialty and Cosemtology is available in school Catalog. Please obtain the most updated copy at Admission Office.
